Dog Breeds - Akita

The Akita is a Large Utility breed of dog which originates from Japan. Their incredibly thick double coats are well suited to cold weather climates.

The breed tends to be very devoted to their owners and there are several outstanding cases of this appearing in the news littered throughout history. The Akita was bred to work alone rather than in packs and so require proper socialisation with other dogs from an early age.
