The Australian Shepherd is a large Pastoral dog which was actually developed in the USA, rather than Australia as its name would suggest.
Very well known for their high levels of obedience, they make very good search and rescue dogs as well as guide dogs. The Australian Shepherd has a lot of energy and likes to be stimulated. They also make great family companions.
