The Basenji is a medium sized Hound although sometimes put into the Sighthound group.
The dog originates from central Africa. Basenji's tend to be curious and energetic and are known for their tendency to stand on their hind legs rather like a meerkat. The Basenji does not bark like other dogs but creates a more of a yodel sound which is quite unique to the breed.
