Dog Breeds - German Longhaired Pointer

The German Longhaired Pointer is a large gundog, developed in Germany which has a slightly wavy coat. They are quite rare across the world and are known for not having any genetic disorders across the breed.

The German Longhaired Pointer was developed as a pointer and as it was originally a rather slow dog was crossed with English Pointers and setters in order to improve their speed. The German Longhaired pointer has since been used to develop the Large Munsterlander.
