The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a large Hound originating from South Africa and have been known as lion dogs for their ability to distract lions.
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is known to be aloof with strangers as well as being quite a mischievous breed. They are very intelligent as well as loyal to their owners. The Rhodesian Ridgeback has a very distinguishable "ridge" along its back starting from two crowns in the coat behind the dogs shoulders.
