  • Just a few lines to introduce myself and open the door to inviting folk in to ask what they like re dog behaviour and training.

It's a vast subject that includes many disciplines (esp. training) but ask away and we'll do our best to guide and help.

In my experience some issues are not best dealt with in a forum due to the severity or nature of the issue as it requires true hands-on handling and assessment. Still put it up and we'll take it from there:)

Much of my behaviour work is problem solving, going to the cause of the issue and seeing what effect it is having on the dog. Once we fully understand and can see the cause in all its clarity, we are far better placed to see the possible solutions.

I don't own the site, but have been offering a little guidance to Steff and Rich on getting it going. My company name is Alpha Dog behaviour

You'll see my links around the site, so check it out for more details should you wish to do so.

    Best wishes,

    Nick

  • Hiya, I did email you earlier.....here is Fred in all his glory! Just wondered about any quick fixes for jumping up as a greeting - both dogs are guilty of this!

  • Hi there.

I have replied to your email :)

By the way, there are rarely 'quick fixes' ;)

  • consistency is your best friend. gently pushing your dog off, telling him a calm no, and pointing away from you can eventually solve the problem, but you have to do it every single time. Also, reward by petting without excitement, when the dog sits quietly to greet you instead :) Don't get frustrated if it doesn't work after a couple of days... it may take time

  • Thank you. Glad you like them. I would love to have all day to make more, but my 'real job' prevents it!

Hoping to break into more video blogging later on, and commit to a weekly video upload.

    We'll see.
