All Things Flyball

I will be adding information about Booge and what we do in Flyball.  With the holidays, we will won't be doing much of anything but practicing.  Our next tournament is in Deland, Florida on January 23 and 24.  Since DeLand is a long drive and we have to be ready to race before 8am, we will be driving over on Friday to stay with some friends in Daytona Beach.
I hope to be posting information about some of the training issues/problems that we experience and also how we fix them.

 December 4, 2009 - Just a Practice Update
We have been going to practice. Thursday nights some of us get together to work on passing and box work.  On Sunday nights the team gets together to practice whatever skills the various dogs or team members need to practice.  Mostly, that is passing and box work.
Booge has been doing very well. She is being consistent and even beginning to increase her speed when we are in a line up of dogs like we are really racing.  When we practice with just her running or with just one other dog she executes fine but she seems to know it is not truly competition and does not run as fast.
Our Thursday practice was a dogs will be dogs practice.  Even the dogs that have been racing for a long time were somewhat distracted or something.  We had quite a few good laughs at the things that happened.  Booge was going to the box, executing a good turn high on the box but was not triggering the box.  A couple of times she triggered it while leaving the box.  That just would not be accepted in a tournament.
